Torsion testing measures the response of materials and components under twisting forces. It is used in life testing of driveline components, calibration of torque wrenches, in-line testing of motors, engines, and transmissions, high-speed aircraft fuel pump testing, viscosity measurement, and automotive wheel torque measurement — across automotive, aerospace, and industrial sectors.

A torsion test involves mounting the test specimen between a torque sensor and a drive mechanism, applying a controlled twisting force, and measuring the resulting torque using a calibrated sensor. Signal conditioning electronics process the output — typically ±10 VDC or strain gage-compatible — for data acquisition. On-board shunt calibration circuits and TEDS chips ensure measurement accuracy throughout the test.
